News: Prisoner given green light to continue IVF treatment An Australian Supreme Court has allowed a woman to continue with her self-funded IVF treatment, after she was given an 18-month jail term for fraud last November. The court heard that the woman, Ms Kimberley Castles, a mother-of-two had begun IVF treatment for 'age-based infertility' at a clinic in Melbourne before her imprisonment. News: More US fertility clinics now 'freeze' eggs More than half of US fertility clinics are now prepared to 'freeze' eggs, a new study has revealed. This option was traditionally reserved for women undergoing cancer therapy or for other medical reasons, but now two out of every three clinics in the US that provide egg 'freezing' will offer the service to healthy women who simply want to preserve their fertility while delaying childbearing, the study found. Re: Zeiss with plast DIC
I am suggesting PlasDIC for ICSI, better Zona pellucida visible, so easier to inject the sperm, more working distance of the Zeiss condenser versus the Hoffman Kondenser allows to position the needles better and easier and when doing IMSI, with PlasDIC 63x and an additional magnification of 1,6x or 2,5x, you will get to the needed magnification for seeing the vacuoles etc. in sperm. PlasDIC is a nice contrast, comparable to Nomarski (DIC), but possible with Plastic dishes, which DIc is not. HMC or Hoffman Kontrast is better to visualize the nuclei of the developing embryo, for HMC seems more like Phasecontrast, hence looks inside more. the advantage of PlasDIC for ICSI and IMSI: You can perform both in one plastic dish!
