The oocyte vitrification procedure followed by ICSI is not inferior to fresh insemination procedure, with regard to fertilization and embryo developmental rates. Moreover, ongoing clinical pregnancy is compatible with this procedure, even with a restricted number of oocytes available for insemination.

The UK's National Health Service (NHS) must improve access to IVF (in vitro fertilisation), according to a new policy briefing on infertility provision in England from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). Only 30 per cent of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in England fund three full cycles of IVF treatment, according to a March 2009 Department of Health survey quoted in the RCN briefing.

1 artifacts in culture dishes. 24 December 2009 2
Hi guys. sometimes we see artifacts in our culture dishes. we use BD falcon 7575 to aliquote medium and prepare culture dishes. when you open individually packed 7575 pippettes, lot of particles are produced, which you can see in the image. we suspect we see the same particles in our culture dishes. Anyone having this problem? Pls comment and share your experience on this.

Re: Testicular biospy red blood cells
I use Lysis buffer which i prepare myself, ammonium chloride 4.495 gm + pottassium bicarbonate 0.5 gm + EDTA 0.0185 gm all dissolved in 50 ml distilled water and filtered, during processing of the sample with sperm medium i add anappropriate volume of the buffer, and it does pretty well

Good luck

Re: DNA Fragmentation Test For Sperm
Halosperm DNA fragmentation kit gives an accurate information about sperm DNA fragmentation & that too without the need of sophisticated equipments, however the technique is tricky and needs patience to achieve consistent performance. the results are reliable and may help improving the outcome of an ART procedure, particularly the ICSI.

Re: Artifacts in culture dishes.
Dear SPG, the image provided by u is not a regular feature of this product. please check the transport and storage of the same, however the glass pipettes delivers a more consistent volume in each drop and therefore more preferable for dish preparation. artifacts in the culture dish are an indicator for lab hygiene (particulate contaminants- dust), an air purification system with positive pressure inside the lab should help.

Re: Artifacts in culture dishes.
Dear SPG,

It is the problem with packaging. The transfer pets 7575 are packaged as "strips". The individual pipettes are packed on a single sheet of paper, wrapped and sealed by plastic covering. These sheets are then punched to make perforations to facilitate the separation of single pipette. When you tear off one pipette from the strip, the perforated line produces fine paper pieces ( as shown in your picture).

To avoid those tiny paper pieces, I separate the individual pipettes whenever I get the time. Clean them just by jurking or taping or sometimes by wiping with tisuue. Keep these relatively debris free pipettes in my lab for ready use.

If you find the artifacts inside the packing, that could be due to poor handling during transportation.

Hope this helps.

-Sanjay
