Re: Fertilization
Hi,
My answer comes from two areas of my experience:
i) I also have been using "early cleavage" as embryo selection tool. Generally, with ICSI embryos we do the early cleavage at 23 hrs post icsi -and some embryos are still at the 2PN stage. For our IVF we use a 25 hr check. Again, like Michael, i like to do the early cleav check as an additional 3PN screen -some 2PN's do progress to 3PN. We have also seen delayed fert at the EC check -so do check your previously unfert's.
So to some degree, i agree with Michael.
2) long working day : occasionally i have had to do a monster day and have ( out of curiosity looked at some eggs i had icsi'd) I have seen ICSI PN's at 10 hrs post icsi.
As a rule of thumb we do our fert checks at 17 - 19 hrs post icsi / insem.
hope this helps

Re: Embryos group culture
IMHO I think with developments in measuring metabolic output and gene activation mapping of developing embryos, co-culturing of embryos will soon be a thing of the past (for those clinics that have yet to switch to individual culture conditions).

Re: Mamograph and Fertilty Lab
Radiation travels in all directions. So you have site the IVF lab well away from any form of radiation. If possible you can shield the room where you are doing mammograms.
Gametes do not like radiation, chemicals change in temperature or even light!!
So be careful
