Welcome to the latest issue of IVF News.

I am excited to share the latest IVF Podcast featuring Lindsay Nohr Beck of http://www.fertilehope.org and her remarkable presentation on the patient's view of oocyte freezing. I would like to encourage you to watch this presentation as one of special interested to everyone working in the field, patients and in fact anyone with an interest in IVF and new technologies. The talk was given on the evening of Tuesday, November 11, 2008 a special dinner event was arranged during the ASRM meeting in San Fransisco. The dinner was arranged by Diego Ezcurra, DVM, MSc and EMD Serono and was attended by many of ASRM's delegates. The evening included several lectures on oocyte cryopreservation and introduced "The Hope Registry". See the 'about' section of the podcast for more information.


I am also excited to tell you about some of the many new features of IVF Podcasts. Our videos are now streamed from a state of the art service that enables a great speed no matter where you are in the world. We also have a new menu bar that has a drop down menu making it easy to navigate quickly to different podcast categories. Hi everyone, I am setting up a new Fertility lab, but in the building that we fine availability, it have donw floor an equipement for mamography, we must be up. I understand that the radiation can go to the side and down but never up. The nuclear med say it doesnt matter, but I have dudes to manipulate gametes and embryos close to these enviroment. I will appriciate if somebody can advise me on that matter. Thanks

Vitrification media contains DMSO, Ehtylene Glycol,which doesnt really have any expiry. So how long can we use vitrificaiton medium, even after its shelf life is over?

Hi Folks, looking for a little guidance in possible use of premix gas (5%O2/6%CO2/89%N2) and Heraeus incubators that are designed for 100%CO2, hoping to try and validate the system if goes well, but open to suggestions if anyone would care to comment. Ta

Re: Brown oocytes
We had same type of case. By IVF, fertilization and cleavage occurred. But all blastomeres were dark brown in colour. ET cancelled. On subsequent cycle by ICSI, we could get best embryos and ET done. She is pregnant carrying twin gestation. Some seminal factors probably the cause for such dark blastomeres. In whatever way sperm is harvested, some seminal factors may persist in final preparation. When you are doing IVF, there are higher chances for such factors to be in contact with oocytes. One important note to make is this particular male patient was under anti alcoholic treatment when he came for the first cycle.
