News: 10th International Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine
Following nine successful Royan International Congresses, tenth congress will be held on September 23-25, 2009 in Tehran, Iran. During the past congresses we observed participation of thousands of specialists, scientists, researchers and students from all around the world in a friendly atmosphere to exchange the knowledge and experiences.

News: 10th Royan International Research Award on Reproductive Biomedicine & Stem Cell Biotechnology
Royan International Research Award was founded by late director of Royan Institute; Dr. S. Kazemi with the aim of encouraging the researchers and appreciation of their efforts. This annual award is a prize given to five prominent Research Projects in the field of Reproductive Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology and Technology and other related subjects.

Announcement: Clinical Fellowship in Andrology and Reproductive Medicine
Clinical Fellowship in Andrology and Reproductive Medicine for medical postgraduates in gynaecolgy, general surgery, urology and general medicine
Objectives:
Train postgraduate students to establish and run an efficient, cost effective and ethical reproductive medicine unit.
Duration:
1 year
The students will not receive any stipend or any other form of financial support from the institution. Fellows enrolled will not be on call in the hospital in any other department.

News: Girl or boy? It's in dad's genes
New research hints that whether a man has sons or daughters is influenced by his genes. The study, by Mr Correy Gellatly from Newcastle University, was published in the journal Evolutionary Biology last week.

News: Fertility drugs linked to increased cancer risk
Women who use fertility drugs may be at increased risk of developing cancer of the uterus. Dr Ronit Calderon-Margalit and colleagues at Hadassah-Hebrew University in Jerusalem studied 15,000 women who gave birth 30 years ago.

News: Research links intelligence to sperm quality
Researchers at London's Institute of Psychiatry have found that more intelligent men have better quality sperm, suggesting a correlation between intelligence and evolutionary fitness, in a study published in the journal Intelligence.

Re: Incubator calibration
Derek asked how often to pH media. We do this at least twice a week, unless the pH is off and we are adjusting the CO2, then we run pH every morning until the results fall within our designated range. Our device is synched with Abbott online twice a year for calibration and we get controls to run in between. We run these when we are doing other pH reading for the incubator and end up doing these probably once a month or so.
