Re: Loading CBS high security embryo straws
I\'ve used the CBS straws since late 2002, and I\'ve found that the loading tip can come unseated, allowing air to enter the system while you draw media into the straw. When you take the straw out of the package, gently twist the loading tip onto the straw a bit tighter - this helps. Also, I\'ve found that by loading media very slowly, you don\'t get bubbles. And last, I don\'t load the embryos using the tip as recommended by the company, as there is turbulent flow going from the small tip to the larger straw diameter. In my experience, the embryos wind up all over the place, and not where I want them. After I load the media with the tip, I remove the tip and pipiette the embryos, using a stripper tip, directly into the straw, placing them exactly where I want them. The straws are opaque, but clear enough so that you can see the embryos through the straw wall. I\'ve had very good results with these straws, in terms of embryo recovery, survival, and subsequent implantation rates.
