Re: Loading the embryo transfer catheter
Hi,
different folks use different methods :)
We use the sidney ivf ( similar to the labotec) and are very happy with it : stiff outer & small diameter inner.
I like to load the catheter with media -this \"wets\" the syringe etc & also media being water based is non-compressible so you get no pressure changes when the catheter is loaded / unloaded.
I load the embryos in as small amount of media as possible. I then draw up a small bubble of air -then \"cap\" the catheter with an small bubble of media.
I have been getting good rates for a number of years. but i'm always open to new ideas :)
Good luck

Re: pH checking
Thanks for the wonderful article. Often we tend to give importance to smaller details forgetting the bigger picture. Hoping that a lot more questions are answered in this forum as it is really helpful for newcomers.

Re: Total cleavage failure following conventional IVF
What was the parameter of confirming the fertilization? If presence of 2 pronuclei, then what happened on day 2nd? (both pronuclei present or absent. Which media and what culture system are you using? How do you check the fertilization. - it seems a procedural error.

Re: Re: Total cleavage failure following conventional IVF
Only in some pts, but total cleavage failure affected all oocytes of the patient. In a batch of 19 pts - 6 pts with very good number of eggs did not produce a single embryo, other patients had perfectly optimal culture outcome.

Re: Re: Re: Total cleavage failure following conventional IVF
It seems to be some problem in culture conditions. A serial printer with the CO2 incubator may be of some help, how do you check fertilization, are you sure you do not over-expose the zygotes?

Re: Total cleavage failure following conventional IVF
You should adjust the osmolarity of IVF media before add with oocyte and also have to change the capacitating agent. Always use new chemicals and reagents.
