News: Time-lapse recordings reveal why IVF embryos are more likely to develop into twins. Researchers believe the laboratory culture could be the cause.
Evidence gathered from time-lapse recordings of the formation of early embryos (blastocysts) in the laboratory has revealed why embryos created via IVF and undergoing extended culture are more likely to develop into twins than those created via natural conception. Furthermore, the research has shown that the culture in which the IVF embryos are formed is possibly responsible for the embryos dividing into twins.

Hello In the clinic I work we do Sperm Washing of men infected with HIV. We use a long protocol for removal of the virus from the sperm. At the end of the protocol we have two samples: one pre-wash and one post-wash, that we send to a molecular laboratory in a hospital for viral analysys. We would expect for the post-wash sample to be clean and not to have any virus, but instead we are obtaining higher concentrations of the virus. The protocol we use is a well established one. Does anyone per..

Re: Osmolarity of media
Osmolality is contributed mainly from the major components in the media like NaCl, Hepes or bicarbonate. If one is careful in weighing these salts, osmolality won\'t differ much. There was an interesting study long back by Seidel group in Theriogenology about the effects of changes in osmolality. As far as I can remember upto 10-15 osmoles do not affect embryo growth.

Re: Re: Setting up an IVF lab
I would advise you to contact any representative for Thermo Fisher Scientific, who offer the best CO2 Incubators worldwide (like HERAEUS and FORMA) and also have the biggest installation base in India. We have been using their units without problem since 5 years now. Service support is also commendable. You can contact their Mr.K.Roy, who leads their IVF initiatives in India for suggestions. His mail id is krishnendu.roy@thermofisher.com . Hope it helps.
